Xiaomi 15 Pro is getting Sony IMX882 for telephoto

The Xiaomi 15 Pro is believed to be getting some substantial improvements in its camera department. In a recent leak, it revealed that aside from its main camera, its telephoto unit will also get some enhancements through the addition of the newer and bigger Sony IMX882 sensor.

News about the Xiaomi 15 Pro’s camera system has been circulating for months now. According to earlier reports, it will have a powerful camera system, with the rear main camera rumored to be a 1-inch 50 MP OV50K. It was also claimed that the said sensor would be paired with 1/2.76-inch 50 MP JN1 ultrawide and 1/2-inch OV64B periscope telephoto lenses.

However, the latest leaks say that the telephoto section of the system will be a Sony IMX882 sensor. This echoes an earlier comment from reputable leaker Digital Chat Station, who earlier said that the Xiaomi 15 Pro would not use the Samsung JN1 lens. If true, this could further enhance the performance of the Xiaomi 15 Pro, as the said sensor measures 1/1.95″, which is bigger than the 1/2.76″ Samsung ISOCELL JN1 in Xiaomi 14 Pro.

The latest leak also reiterated a detail regarding the 1-inch 50 MP OV50K main lens shared by DCS earlier. According to DCS in earlier reports, the lineup will still use a customized OmniVision main camera with a 1/1.3″ sensor, adding that the system will have a large aperture, although its details are not disclosed.

In addition, DCS shared that the lenses’ “coating has been changed.” The account refers to the anti-reflection coating of the lenses, which is believed to be applied in various layers. Ultimately, the post details that the camera systems of the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will feature low-light night scenes and ultra-fast focus shooting capabilities.
