A brand official confirmed that the next Xiaomi flagship will also have a rear display. While others expect it to be dubbed “Xiaomi 18,” a famous tipster noted that this could still change.
The Xiaomi 17 is now available in China, where it immediately became a success. As reported days ago, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max quickly became out of stock due to high demand. The series’ success is attributed to the unique features of the models, especially the Pro models, which both have secondary displays on their backs.
Now, Xiaomi President Lu Weibing shared that the company is planning to use the same feature on the brand’s next flagship. According to the executive, the company spent more than CN¥1B on the tech and wants to push its R&D investments further.
Meanwhile, reputable leaker Digital Chat Station claimed that it remains unknown what Xiaomi’s next lineup name is. While it is safe to say that it would be named the Xiaomi 18 series, DCS noted that it is still tentative. To recall, the brand skipped 16 and directly jumped to 17 to compete with the Apple iPhone 17 lineup.
DCS also shared that the next series will have more software functionality for its rear display. Currently, the Xiaomi 17 Pro series’ rear displays support for selfies with the main camera, notifications, music controls, wallpaper customization, widgets, step counts, sticky notes, and games (using an optional controller case).
