The management of Xiaomi EV‘s supply chain was led by Li Xiao Shuang, a long-standing member of Xiaomi. However, Xiaomi has now appointed a former executive from Magna, a Canadian automotive supplier, to take on this role.
High expectations on Xiaomi EV: Xiaomi targets 100,000 sales of their new electric within a year
Xiaomi selected Huang Zhenyu, a prominent figure in the automotive industry who previously served as the Vice President of Magna China, a global supplier. Following the transition of the supply chain responsibilities to Huang Zhenyu, Li Xiao Shuang, the Vice President of Automotive at Xiaomi, will shift his focus to the marketing sector and assume the position of general manager of the marketing department of Xiaomi’s upcoming EV.
In February this year, Xiaomi announced at an investor day that the Xiaomi EV R&D team now brings together more than 2,300 people. Xiaomi EV team plans to officially enter mass production in the first quarter of the following year.
Xiaomi has set a sales target of 100,000 Xiaomi electric vehicles for the first year of deliveries in 2024. This implies that their initial vehicle is expected to achieve monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units once it officially enters mass production.
It appears that Xiaomi is taking their electric vehicle venture seriously and is in need of a team that can surpass the capabilities of the current team. Xiaomi has invested approximately CNY 3.1 billion (equivalent to USD 440 million) in the production of their EV and built a huge team working on the upcoming vehicle.
