Huawei Mate XT 2 patent reveals new design, folding mechanism, cover display

According to a leaked patent, the Huawei Mate XT 2 will feature significant changes, from its design to its folding mechanism.

Huawei turned heads when it unveiled the Huawei Mate XT as the first trifold model in the market. After the Huawei Mate XTs, reports say that the giant is now developing the XT 2.

Now, a patent circulating online says the company plans to make major changes to the phone.

To start, it will drop the Z folding mechanism and replace it with an inward-folding technique. The arrangement will also add a cover display in the right back panel of the phone. To recall, the current XT and XTs models do not have this feature, as their cover displays are part of their main foldable screens.

According to the images, the camera island shape will change as well. From the octagonal figure, Huawei will adopt a simple circular module this time.

An earlier report claimed that upgrades to the Huawei Mate XT 2 will include a new Kirin 9050 Pro chip, a larger 6000mAh battery, and a noticeably reduced crease due to “significantly improved” hinge technology. The tip also said that its camera can match the performance of the Mate X7, which features a 50MP f1.4-f4.0 RYYB main camera with OIS, a 40MP RYYB ultrawide, and a 50MP f2.2 RYYB telephoto macro with OIS and 3.5x optical zoom.
