Motorola wants a smartwatch that transforms into a smartphone

A leaked patent reveals that Motorola is exploring the idea of turning a smartwatch into a smartphone.

The competition in the smartphone industry is increasingly growing tougher each year. To this end, brands have to come up with their latest inventions, giving us recent technologies like trifold models, wide phones, and 10,000mAh+ batteries.

Now, a new leak suggests Motorola plans to combine two devices into one. The brand’s patent details how the company envisions a smartwatch with a strap that can be unfolded to form a smartphone display.

Half of the smartwatch is said to rotate 180 degrees to attach to the other half. Magnets will then secure that both parts are aligned and attached.

While it is impressive, it is important to note that the device remains an idea, so it is uncertain whether it will see the light of day.

On a positive note, there is a chance that Motorola is considering creating it. This is not impossible, since we have also reported leaked patents in the past, including Huawei’s trifold, which is now on the market and is about to get its third upgrade
