Alleged Xiaomi 17 Ultra spotted in the wild

A smartphone model believed to be the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has made an appearance in public.

The Xiaomi model is set to arrive next week, possibly on Thursday, December 26. The brand remains mum about the specifics of the phone, but several leaks have already divulged some interesting details about it.

Following the leak showing the phone with a privacy case, it was spotted again in public. In a photo circulating online, Chinese-American actor Daniel Wu was spotted using the purported Ultra handheld.

Although the smartphone was also wearing a case, the image confirms earlier reports that it features the same circular camera island design as its predecessor.

According to earlier reports, the Chinese giant and Leica have collaborated again on the device, which is expected to use the former’s iconic red logo.

The phone reportedly has better cameras than its predecessor. Leaks suggest that Xiaomi will focus on using larger lenses this time, with some tipsters stating that the company is adding a new Leica coating to the cameras. As per rumors, the lenses the phone houses include the 50MP OVX10500U for the main unit, the 200MP S5KHPE for telephoto, and 50MP OV50M or 50MP S5KJN5 for the ultrawide. The selfie camera, on the other hand, could arrive with a 50MP OV50M lens.

Other highlights of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra include its rumored Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a battery with an estimated 7000mAh capacity, 100W wired and 80W wireless fast charging capabilities, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and an IP68 rating.
