A short while before the introduction of POCO F4, the question of POCO F3 vs POCO F4 was wondered by users. Recently, Redmi had a huge launch event. And long-awaited Redmi K50 series was introduced. At the next POCO event, the Redmi K40S device in this series will be introduced globally as POCO F4. You know that POCO is actually a sub-brand of Redmi and its devices are actually produced by Redmi, only re-branded as POCO globally. Alright, let’s get to main topic, is POCO’s new POCO F4 device better than predecessor POCO F3 device? Is it worth upgrading? Or is there not a huge difference between them? Let’s start our comparison article.
POCO F3 vs POCO F4 Comparison
POCO F3 (alioth) (Redmi K40 on Redmi brand) was introduced in 2021. Next device in the F series, POCO F4 (munch) (Redmi K40S on Redmi brand), is expected to be introduced by POCO soon. We will do POCO F3 vs POCO F4 comparison under the these subtitles.
POCO F3 vs POCO F4 – Performance
We won’t be able to make much comparisons here. Because both devices have the same chipset. In other words, new POCO F4 (munch) device will have same processor and therefore same performance as the predecessor device POCO F3 (alioth).
Both POCO devices have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 (SM8250-AC) chipset. This processor is a further enhanced version of Snapdragon 865 (SM8250) and 865+ (SM8250-AB), one of Qualcomm’s flagship processors. Equipped with Octa-core Kyro 585 cores, this chipset is a real performance beast with clock speeds of 1×3.2GHz, 3×2.42GHz and 4×1.80GHz. It has a 7nm manufacturing process and supports 5G. On the GPU side, it’s accompanied by Adreno 650.
In AnTuTu benchmark tests, the processor has seen a score of +690,000. In the Geekbench 5 test, the scores are 1024 in single-core and 3482 in multi-core. In short, the Snapdragon 870 is an ideal and powerful processor for today. However, there is no reason to switch from POCO F3 to POCO F4 in terms of performance. Because processors are the same anyway.
POCO F3 vs POCO F4 – Display
Frankly, the devices are same in screen specifications, there is no difference. 6.67″ Samsung E4 AMOLED display on the POCO F3 (alioth) device has a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ (1080×2400) resolution. The screen has a density of 395ppi.
And 6.67″ Samsung E4 AMOLED display on the new POCO F4 (munch) device has a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ (1080×2400) resolution. The screen has a density of 526ppi. HDR10+ support and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection available on both device screens.
As a result, if we consider the difference screen density, POCO F4 looks a bit better on the screen. However, this isn’t a reason to switch to a new POCO device. Screens are almost same, there is no innovation compared to predecessor POCO F3 device.
POCO F3 vs POCO F4 – Camera
One of the most important parts is the camera. The predecessor POCO F3 device has a triple camera setup. Main camera is Sony Exmor IMX582 48MP f/1.8 with PDAF. Second camera is Sony Exmor IMX355 8MP f/2.2 119˚ (ultrawide). And third camera is Samsung ISOCELL S5K5E9 5MP f/2.4 50mm (macro).
Unfortunately, they are same in the camera part. Only the macro camera is different. POCO F4 device’s main camera is Sony Exmor IMX582 48MP f/1.8 with OIS+PDAF. Second camera is Sony Exmor IMX355 8MP f/2.2 119˚ (ultrawide). And third camera is OmniVision 2MP f/2.4 50mm (macro).
Selfie cameras are same, 20MP f/2.5 on both devices. As a result, cameras of the devices are exactly same, except for the main camera OIS support and macro camera. Camera sensors are same brand, same model and same resolution. The POCO F4 device is same as predecessor device in the camera part.
POCO F3 vs POCO F4 – Battery & Charging
In this part, the POCO F4 device finally appears with a difference. The battery of both devices is the same, Li-Po 4500mAh. However, the POCO F3 device supports 33W fast charging, while the POCO F4 device supports 67W fast charging. There is a 67W charger in the box. You can charge your phone to 100% in 40 minutes using the 67W fast charging feature. Thanks to this feature, the disadvantages of small battery capacities are also removed. Actually 67W fast charging is considered a good reason to buy the new POCO F4.
POCO F3 vs POCO F4 – Design & Other Specifications
There is a design difference on the back. The POCO F3 device has a glass back cover, while the POCO F4 has a plastic back cover. In addition, the strange camera design of the POCO F3 has been replaced by an even more bizarre triangular design with the POCO F4. Device dimensions are considered exactly the same, even device weights are the same. As the POCO F4 will be in different colors from the Redmi K40S, we cannot comment on the device colors for now.
Both devices have side-mounted fingerprints. Since the chipsets of the devices are the same, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies, LTE/NR band supports etc. will be exactly the same. Storage/RAM models will be revealed when the device is introduced, but probably, like the Redmi K40S or even the POCO F3, the POCO F4 device will have 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB variants.
Result
POCO F4 (munch) device is the 2022 version of the POCO F3 (alioth) device. Apart from the small details we mentioned above, the devices are exactly the same. Naturally, there is no reason to switch from the POCO F3 to the POCO F4. Only the POCO F4 device will come out of the box with MIUI 13 based on Android 12, naturally it will be one step ahead of predecessor POCO F3 in updating.
So, if you are using POCO F3, enjoy it and keep on following us.
