Tipster warns fans of possible Xiaomi 17 series price hike

According to a well-known industry leaker, the Xiaomi 17 series could have a steeper price tag than its predecessor.

The new Xiaomi flagship lineup is coming this week. Ahead of its arrival this Thursday, Digital Chat Station hinted at the possible price increase of the Xiaomi 17 series, especially the Pro models.

According to the account, the series devices will debut the 22nm 50MP Light Hunter 950L sensor (which sports the new LOFIC 3.0 tech) as their main camera. The camera system is also said to include additional optical coatings to prevent ghosting, fogging, and glare.

Even more, Xiaomi made some significant upgrades in various sections of the devices, including the processor (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5) and memory. Moreover, both the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max now sport secondary displays on their back panels.

According to DCS, these upgrades are “very expensive,” so “it will be difficult” for the company not to increase the price of the devices.

The series is expected to include the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, which will all support 100W charging and use the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. The Pro and Pro Max are reportedly sharing similarities in their camera systems, but the latter is expected to get a better telephoto unit. According to a leak, the Pro model boasts a triple 50MP Leica camera setup with a 50MP f/1.67 main camera, a 17mm ultrawide, and an f3.0 115mm telephoto unit with a 5X optical zoom. The Pro Max model is also said to house the same main and ultrawide Leica camera units. However, the variant is rumored to have a better telephoto with a wider f/2.6 aperture.
