Dimensity 1080 processor is introduced by MediaTek. This processor supports 5G and is suitable for use in mid range phones. Although the Redmi Note 12 series will not be available until later in this year, we expect the Dimensity 1080 to be featured in Redmi Note 12 series. Dimensity 1080 might be used by Redmi Note 12 Pro. Last year’s Redmi Note 11 Pro has also featured a MediaTek processor which is Helio G96.
Dimensity 1080
This new chipset is intended to improve many of the features that distinguished its predecessor, such as processing power efficiency, camera, video and call quality. Dimensity 920 is the predecessor of Dimensity 1080. Dimensity 920 is used by Redmi Note 11 Pro+.
Dimensity 1080 features an upgraded octa core CPU with two Arm Cortex-A78 CPU cores that can run at up to 2.6GHz. 200 MP image data coming from the camera sensors can be handled by the Dimensity 1080. The chipset is made on a 6 nm process and includes a Mali-G68 GPU.
Dimensity 1080 supports sub-6GHz 5G networks in addition to Wi-Fi 6. Smartphones powered by the Dimensity 1080 will be available for purchase in the fourth quarter of 2022. Dimensity 1080 brings additional camera features thanks to Imagiq ISP. It can support quad camera setup and shoot HDR videos at 4K resolution. Dimensity 1080’s HyperEngine 3.0 improves game performance as well.
