Xiaomi 12 Ultra camera will feature a TOF sensor — Found in Mi Code

Xiaomi’s upcoming and much awaited flagship, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra camera will have a different layout, as the device will feature 3 cameras that we’re accustomed to seeing on a Xiaomi phone, but will also feature… a time of flight camera? And three flashes? If that sounds interesting to you, then let’s get into it.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra camera layout – details & more

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra, as we reported previously, will most likely feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor, a successor the not-very-successful 8 Gen 1, and an interesting camera layout. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra camera layout will be as follows:

  • 50 megapixel Wide Camera powered by Leica
  • 48 megapixel Periscope Camera
  • 48 megapixel Ultrawide Camera
  • TOF  camera

Though, some sources claim that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will feature the IMX800 or the IMX989 sensor for it’s main camera.

Now, what is a Time of Flight camera? A TOF camera is a camera which uses infrared lights to find out depth information about an image. The sensor will emit a light signal, and that light signal will hit the focused subject and return back depth data to the camera. This will allow the Xiaomi 12 Ultra camera to take amazing portrait photos, and carry incredible depth data on images, and also make sure that it is great at Alternate Reality things.

With the upcoming Surge C2 processor, and buffed out sensors and specs, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will surely take amazing photos, and be a great device if you’re looking for a top-of-the-line, slightly overkill device for your daily usage, or if you’re a gamer and you need a powerhouse of a phone in your hands at all times.
